Chapter 21 October 26, 2020 Meeting Minutes

Ken Reindel called the October 26, 2020 meeting to order at 7:12 P.M. via Zoom with a COVID-19 Colorado Update summarizing the increasing percent positive treads taking place across the state—and country. The reported data shows that the pandemic is definitely and clearly getting worse, so take proper precautions!

Minutes Approved: The minutes of the September 28 meeting were approved as posted on the Chapter’s website www.nawcc21.com.

National Update: Tim Orr reported as follows:

• The National office and museum plan to physically reopen during the first week in November. Standard COVID-19 precautions including mandatory temperature tak-ing at the door, social distancing, and mandatory face coverings.

• The Seattle area Chapter is presenting “Waltham Clocks” on Sunday at 1:00 PM Pa-cific Time. We are invited to attend.

Chapter Library: In Paul Wegener’s absence the Librarian’s report was tabled until the next meeting. Book return and check out is available by contacting Paul at bobbiandpblwe-gener@yahoo.com .

Show & Tell: Very impressive offerings were made by Jack Wood and Terry Jones. Thank you folks and great job on luminous watch dial touch up, Jack!

Monthly Presentation: Ken Reindel presented the “Hammond Bichronous Restoration.” These beautiful, well-built electric clocks, produced by Hammond during approximately 1930-1940 offer a unique feature. When the power fails, they keep running accurately for up to 30 minutes! Numerous stunning models abound, but most are in poor shape because they are just plain difficult to get working. Ken’s described in detail the restoration methods unique to these movements showing how they work, demystifying the technology and restoring Hammond’s to like new condition. The section on fabricating new fiber wheels is particularly valuable for anyone interested in restoring ANY plug-in electric clock. Chapter 21’s Annual Meeting is scheduled for November 23, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. by Zoom.
