Chapter 21’s August meeting was called to order by President Ken Reindel at 7:10 PM via Zoom. This is the third meeting held virtually as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Six-teen members were present for the business meeting. During the program session, 21 people jointed for a total of 36 participants at the height of the evening. Several people were in attendance and welcomed from other chapters.
Minutes Approved: The minutes of the July 27 minutes were approved as posted on the Chapter’s website.
Regional Expo Update: Terry Jones reported that Jefferson County refunded the deposit for October’s Regional meeting. He was also informed the fairgrounds guidelines were changed focusing exclusively on equine and agriculture meetings. As a result we need to find another venue.
Emily Griffith Clock Class: Ken Gfeller reported that the class continues to be included on the Emily Griffith website for the 2021 curriculum year. Confirmation for opening the class is expected but has not been received.
National Update: 1) By law changes are up for ratification by the membership is open for voting until mid-night tonight. Tim Orr encouraged everyone to vote if you have not. 2) All staff at the home office have been authorized to go back to work and normal opera-tions may begin soon. 3) Hiring the new executive director is in process while being de-layed due to the pandemic. 4) The roof is being repaired and is on schedule for comple-tion by the end of September. 5) the museum and library remain closed.
Librarian’s Book Critque: Paul Wegener reviewed “Investing in Clocks and Watches” by P.W. Cumhaill. The book is available by contacting Paul. He also reported Chapter 21’s lending library is open. If there is a book you would like to check out please do so. Paul will get the book to you. Also, if you have any items due back to the library, please send the back. Show & Tell offerings were made by Jack Wolf, Charles Daldry.
Other business: There was discussion about beginning the monthly meeting earlier than 7:00 PM. Consensus was to keep the meeting at start time at 7:00 P.M.
Monthly Presentation: Ken Reindel presented the “Tale of Two Motors”. The presentation will be available soon. A special thanks to all of those who attended from Chapter 21 and from other Chapters around the NAWCC!
